Creating a Shared Understanding with a User Experience Community of Practice (Poster 46)

In order to better serve our library users, we decided to turn around and look at the other campus outlets our audiences are interacting with. What we found overwhelmed us: a myriad of different web interfaces, experiences, and demands made for a confusing and jarring mix of interactions that did not create a cohesive digital campus. In April 2024, we launched the User Experience Community of Practice at the University of Notre Dame with the intention of bringing together faculty and staff to ultimately create a shared language and improve the user experience on campus.

Our evaluation of this effort is ongoing; the community of practice is new, but other communities of practice on campus have had success in creating cross-campus partnerships. The project will be represented by visual examples of the digital campus (websites, forms, applications) and comprehensive documentation of the student, faculty, and staff digital experience at campus.
