Sal Hamerman is a Metadata Librarian, Rare Books Specialty, at Princeton University Library. They have helped lead numerous reparative metadata efforts at Princeton University Library, including the implementation of the Homosaurus vocabulary. They have presented their work on critical cataloging at several national and regional library conferences, and formerly chaired the ARLIS/NA Advocacy and Public Policy Committee and the ARLIS/NA Cataloging Section.
Sal co-curated the 2024 exhibition "Ulises Carrion: Bookworks and Beyond" at Princeton University Library's Milberg Gallery, and co-edited an exhibition catalog of the same name. They have also written several articles and organized panels highlighting the history of artists' publishing, and co-founded the Cybernetics Library, a library collection, arts and research project in New York City.
