Assistant Director and Sustainability Team Leader

Eileen Caulfield is an Assistant Director of The Smithtown Library, located in Smithtown, New York, where she also serves as Building Head of the Smithtown Building. She is responsible for facilities throughout the four-building district and has over twenty-two years of experience working at The Smithtown Library. Ms. Caulfield has held several positions, including Children’s Librarian and Youth Services Coordinator. In her current position, she works closely with town officials, and other agencies, to improve facilities in order to provide a safe, functional and welcoming environment for patrons and staff. She has a strong commitment to sustainability reflected in promoting the library’s initiatives to provide green practices, including waste reduction and energy efficiency upgrades. Outside of her professional work, Ms. Caulfield enjoys reading historical fiction and volunteering at the local historical society, reinforcing her commitment to promoting education and community service. She looks forward to sharing insights and experiences serving as the Facilities Manager of the largest library on Long Island.
