Dr. Nihar Kanta Patra currently serves as the Head of the Central Library at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur, an institution established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. With over 25 years of professional experience, he has held key leadership roles, including University Librarian at Manipur Central University, Imphal, and Nalanda International University, Rajgir. Dr. Patra has significantly contributed to several other nationally important institutions, where he has established and revitalized modern library systems. He holds a PhD in Electronic Resource Management (ERM) and is the author of two books on ERM, published by Elsevier, USA, and IGI Global, USA. As a distinguished resource person, he has been invited to numerous universities and institutions to share his insights on ERM and library technologies. Dr. Patra has received several prestigious awards, including the “Most Dynamic Librarian Award,” “Innovative Librarian,” “Rising Star Award,” and the “Best DLISSUian Award.” He is a life member of various professional library associations and an annual member of ALA. He also serves as an advisory member on several national and international committees. His core mission is to extend outreach services to underprivileged communities through the organizations he is affiliated with.
