Alanna Aiko Moore is the Librarian for Sociology, Ethnic Studies, and Critical Gender Studies at University of California, San Diego, a position she has held for 14 years. Alanna brings a deep commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice and extensive experience working in a variety of settings. At UC San Diego, Alanna has served on the Executive Committee of the Critical Gender Studies Program and on the Advisory Board of the LGBTQ Resource Center.
Alanna is a 2003 Spectrum Scholar and the Immediate Past President of the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA). Within ALA, she has served on the Steering Committee for Organizational Effectiveness, the Task Force for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and has chaired the Committee on Diversity. Alanna was one of 10 members of the Steering Committee for the Joint Conference of Librarians of Color II and has been invited to present trainings for ALA, ARL, ACRL and APALA. Alanna has published and presented on intersectionality, LGBTQ identity, invisible labor, mentoring, activism in the profession, self-care, and issues affecting women of color librarians. Prior to librarianship, she worked at social justice centered non-profits and community organizations.
Moore holds a bachelor of arts in Sociology and Gender studies from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR and a master in library and information science from Dominican University.
